LADIES TO THE FORE AT FALKIRK

On a cold, crisp frosty morning, 10 club members braved the elements to take part in the 71st Falkirk Parkrun at Callander Park.
The female’s outnumbered their male counterparts and it showed in the results with four of them filling the first five places in the women’s category.
First home was Edel Mooney who set a new PB for the course with her time of 18 minutes 37 seconds, 11 seconds quicker than her previous best. Edel also placed a good 4th overall. Chloe Cox has won 16 Edinburgh Parkruns but on Saturday made her Falkirk debut finishing in 2nd place in 19m 23s, making it a Lothian clean sweep of the first three places was Lana Turnbull who covered the 5k in 21m 24s.
Marking a great day for the ladies Keri Greig crossed the line in 5th place, with her mother Shona in 14th and Bethany Nelson 16th and 2nd JW14.
The clubs first male finisher was Bethany’s dad Scott in 10th, in 20m 06, followed by race debutant Stephen Malcolm in 31st and the evergreen Jim Alexander in 52nd.
Making up the club’s representation in the race was new club secretary Mike Turnbull who was one of the ‘whippers in’ in 129th place of the 132 finishers in a time of 35m 30s.
