I am sure this will come as a disappointment to athletes that attend our Wednesday training sessions. A recent decision has had to be taken to suspend the sessions. This has been required due to a shortage of available coaches, appropriately qualified for insurance purposes, and a drop in participation numbers.
As club members will know, Wednesday sessions form 1 of 5 training sessions Lothian Running Club offer each week, so there is no shortage of other available options for members. The sessions we offer are:
- Sundays: 10am at Dechmont Law
- Tuesdays: 7:55pm at the Meadows in Edinburgh
- Thursdays: Craigswood Track
- Fridays: Craigswood Track (and hall in Winter)
In addition to this, many members regularly meet for informal sessions, including Tuesday evenings. Details are often posted on the clubs Facebook group page.
We would encourage members to continue to meet regularly and Wednesday evenings may offer an opportunity for informal group runs. The Facebook group offers an ideal way to self organise runs.
The committee will consider the impact of the loss of Wednesday sessions. Meantime, we are very thankful for the many hours of dedication and hard work our coaches have provided running these sessions over the years.
There is no change to the monthly Fiddlers Handicap run which takes place on the first Wednesday of each month.
