Lothian Running Club’s Shona Young was the victor in the women’s category at the Meadows Marathon in Edinburgh on Sunday.
The race takes place around a loop of the Meadows which the runners have to complete 18 times, and your maths skills have to be good as you have to keep count of your own laps!
Shona covered the course in 3 hours 33 minutes 09 seconds, outside her personal best for the marathon distance but almost 5 minutes quicker than she recorded when finishing runner up in the same race two years ago. In the overall standings Shona placed 8th of the 36 finishers. Paul Young also contested the event finishing in 22nd place in 4 hours 03 minutes 50 seconds.
