Club ladies just miss out on relay medals.

Lothian Running Club’s ladies team just missed out on a podium place as a record number of athletes gathered in Livingston on Sunday for the annual Scottish Men’s six stage and Women’s four stage Road Relay Championships.
Team members run alternate short [3.1 miles] and long [5.8 miles] legs.
The Lothian club fielded two full teams and an incomplete team in the men’s event and one full team and one incomplete in the women’s race.
The women’s team who took the title 2 years ago turned in another good performance. New recruit to the club Siobhan Coleman led off for the blue vests on the first of the short legs and after a fine run handed over to second runner Mel Zobel for the first of the long stages in 6th place. A steady run saw Mel maintain the club’s top ten place as she handed over to Mhairi Inglis in 8th.Mhairi kept up her recent good run of form and moved the team up to 7th place before handing the baton over to her sister Sarah to run the anchor long leg. Less than 24 hours earlier Sarah had captained the Scottish team to silver medals in the Home Countries International cross country Championship in Wales. The previous days exertions had little effect as Sarah recorded the fastest long leg time of the day which saw her bring the team home in fourth place just missing out on a podium place.
There was a big entry of 47 teams for the men’s race in which the Lothian sextet of Euan McInnes,Malcolm Lang,Alan Kennedy,Colin Partridge,Owen Williams and Josh Dack finished in 22nd place.
Both the Men’s and Women’s titles were won by the teams from Central AC.
