Junior Training Sessions – update September 2020

As part of the club’s re-emergence from lockdown restrictions, we continue to offer a weekly session for junior athletes (8-16). The Club intend establishing a dedicated Friday evening Juniors session inside Craigswood Sports Centre  and this is one  interim step towards that. We are hopeful that the Centre will open soon as bad light becomes a factor and even restricted facilities are better..

The sessions are being held on the big field to the East of Craigswood – the Pumpherston/Paterson’s shortbread (!) side – accessed through the woods from the Sports Centre or via the gate on Grange Road.

Participants and responsible guardians should be there 6.45 for a 7.00 pm start. We aim to finish by 8.00pm. Juniors should want to be there and be prepared to join in and do their best  – and follow instructions for their guidance and safety.

The session will include movement drills, warm up games, fitness runs and/or jumps and throws  then usually a team relay. Juniors can interact under current rules but adults should remain at a social distance. Sanitiser is provided and any equipment used is provided sanitised and is my responsibility.

As Craigswood is still closed I cannot access all equipment so it is more informal and improvised  – but still planned to deliver fundamentals, fitness and fun.
