Junior Training Sessions – update October 2020

As part of the club’s re-emergence from lockdown restrictions, we continue to offer a weekly session for junior athletes (8-16). The Club had intended establishing a dedicated Friday evening Juniors session inside Craigswood Sports Centre but there now appears to have been a booking for this slot by another club. We are hopeful we can get a resolution and are talking to Xcite about this now. I will however, at least, shortly have access t0 the equipment and resources stored at Craigswood .

Meantime, the sessions are now being held outside the Civic Centre, Livingston  each Friday – starting at 7.00 p.m. ( to 8.00). This is a public space so added care is needed by all.

Participants and responsible guardians should be there 6.45 for a 7.00 pm start. We aim to finish by 8.00pm. Juniors should want to be there and be prepared to join in, behave (!)  and do their best  – and follow instructions for their guidance and safety.

Participants should be between 8 and 16 and members of the club. If numbers continue as they are access may have to be denied to non-members. New people are welcome to come and try a couple of sessions ( as they are with the adults) and see how they like it – if they want to keep coming they will need to join the club. Membership is not expensive and family memberships  offer good value – see elsewhere on the site for details.

The session will include movement drills, warm up games, fitness runs and/or jumps and throws  then usually a team relay. Juniors can interact under current rules but adults should remain at a social distance. Sanitiser is provided and any equipment used is provided sanitised and is my responsibility.

While Craigswood is still restricted I cannot access all equipment so it is more informal and improvised  – but still planned to deliver fundamentals, fitness and fun.

It is vital I know who is coming and I don’t want to turn anyone away on the night – so let me know via the club Facebook page or by email to martin.leadbetter@outlook.com

Thanks – Martin
