Race Information

Important Information for Team Entries:

Athletes who compete in a scottishathletics championship MUST be current members of scottishathletics on the day of the race.  SA numbers must be quoted on the entry form, as per UKA Rule 21. Athletes who are submitted without a valid membership or out of date membership cannot be added after the closing date.

Provisonal timings:

Young Females and Young Males declarations open at 10am
Women’s and Men’s declarations open at 1115am

1200hrs Young Females (Declarations Close 1130hrs)
1240hrs Young Males (Declarations Close 1210hrs)
1320hrs Sen/Jun Females (Declarations Close 1250hrs)
1445hrs Sen/Jun Males (Declarations Close 1415hrs)

Senior/Junior and Master Men will run 4 Laps – Masters M50 will run 3 laps only.
Senior/Junior Women will run 4 Laps – Masters Women and W50+ will run 3 laps as in previous years.
Womens Teams with 4 athletes will be considered for the Senior/Junior Race only; M50 teams with 4 atheltes will be considered for the Masters Men race only.
4th Lap Runners will wear COLOURED numbers

Entry is on the day, just make yourself known at the club tent in plenty of time for your race.  If possible, it’s appreciated but not required if you can let the team managers know ahead of time that you will be running.

This event is open to all club members aged 9 (born after 1/09/2008) and upwards.

Race start times are normally the same for all 3 league meets, but keep an eye out for last minute changes.

  • 12:00  – U11 Girls
  • 12:15 – U11 Boys
  • 12:30 – U13 Girls
  • 12:50  -U13 Boys
  • 13:05 –  U17 Men
    13:10 – Junior, Senior & Vet Women,
  • 13:45 – U15 Boys
    13:55 – U15 Girls & U17 Women
  • 14:15 – Senior, Junior, Vet Men

Note that the U17 Men, and Jun/Sen/Vet Women run at the same time, but the men start a few minutes earlier.  Similarly for the U15 Boys and U15/U17 Girls race

The club tent and banner will be at the start/finish area from around 11.00am where you can check-in, collect your number. Entry is free for Club Members. It is recommended that you arrive in good time to do a recce of the course and warm up before your race.

Clubs entering are asked to provide two marshals to assist on the course.  Names and contact details for the marshals should be emailed no later than Wednesday 12th February to alex.jackson@ed.ac.uk

 

Age groups for Scottish Athletics XC 2019/20 are as follows:

  • U11  – Born Between  01/09/2008 and  31/08/2010
  • U13 – Born Between  01/09/2006 and  31/08/2008
  • U15 – Born Between  01/09/2004 and  31/08/2006
  • U17 – Born Between  01/09/2002 and  31/08/2004
  • Juniors – Born Between 01/09/1999 and 31/08/2002
  • Seniors – Born Before 01/09/1999
  • Masters – Over 40 on day of race

How to Enter:

Entries for all of the events (except for the three league meetings in Stirling, Livingston, and Broxburn) are required in advance and close either 2 or sometimes 3 weeks before each race – so get the dates in you diaries now.  Sign up sheets will be on the notice board at Craigswood for those events that require it, and if you want to run please add your name to the list.

You can also enter by e-mailing your name, date of birth and Scottish Athletics number to raceentries@lothianrunningclub.co.uk  or commenting on the relevant post on our facebook page.

Entries for the three league events are free to current club members.

The club subsidise the other races in the calendar.  The cost to the athlete for each race is £5 which you pay in advance or the day to the club’s team manager in the Club’s tent which along with our club banner will be present at all the events.  Entry for under 17’s is £3.

Please note if the club has entered you for an event and you don’t run, the full race fee is still due (except the East League events).

Scottish Athletics Membership

All National, District, and League events require membership of Scottish Athletics (except U11s). As well as being a member of the club you must also be a member of Scottish Athletics to participate.  SAL fees are £5 for under 21’s and £18 for Senior Membership – full details of how to apply are on the Scottish athletics website. See Scottish Athletics Website for more details.

Club Cross Country Championships – The club’s annual cross-country championships encompasses a selection of races throughout the season.

East District League

East District League  – The three events are always popular with the club, and count towards the club championships.

Borders Cross Country

Another popular  series of events is the Borders Cross Country Series. A single one-off entry entitles you to run in any of the 6 events. Entires fill up fast.
