ANOTHER GOOD DAY AT THE GAMES FOR CLUB RUNNERS

Updated: 2010-06-19
Club runners enjoyed another successful day at the Newburgh Highland Games in Fife on Saturday 19th June.

Both Darren Thomson and Robert Inglis repeated their Open 90metres and 800 metres wins from Helensburgh Games the previous week.

Darren qualified for the final of the 90 by finishing runner up in his heat to Francis Smith Pitreavie AC.

The Lothian runner however gained revenge on the Scottish hurdles internationalist Smith in the final, in a blanket finish Thomson just edged home ahead of Kevin Eddy Kelty with Smith close up in third.

Robert Inglis started from the backmark in the Open 800 metres but steadily worked his way through the field to break the tape in 1:54.40 ahead of Don Bradley Inverness and Barry Davie Pitreavie AC. Robert also finished 4th in the 1600 metres handicap.

Bethany Nelson almost made it a sprint double for the club, after winning her heat in the Youth’s 90 metres handicap she went on to finish runner up in the final behind Ross Friel Glenrothes.

Alice Horsburgh qualified to the final of the Youths 200 metres as a fastest loser before finishing 5th in the final.
In the Youth’s 800 and 1600 metres races Hannah Stewart finoshed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
