Festive Handicap

Lothian Running Club Annual Festive Handicap, Beecraigs  – 26th December

After many years (decades ?)  of remarkable organisation by Peter West (and the rest of the wonderful West family) he has taken a well deserved break.

In 2022 the Club scaled back to offer a self handicapped event with much reduced stewarding and logistics – over both 7 & 14k options. This went very well and attracted over 70 runners – from our club, from Linlithgow AC and from all locations.

In 2023 we will again offer the 2022 format. You will need to pre enter via Q-Buster

The handicap event runs over a course of 7 km or 14 km ( 2 laps) , first runner starts at 11.00am; Beecraigs Bash Fun Run (1.3km approx.) at 11.15am

The Courses: Both handicap runs use the same, tough loop starting near Balvornie car park , heading east through Beecraigs, round Beecraigs Loch, up the sawmill hill and returning, via Balvormie, to climb Cockleroy  and back to Balvornie. The longer run is two laps of the shorter one.  The route is mainly forest roads and paths and may be muddy. The climb and descent of Cockleroy is on close grazed grass.
