Amy Lickley competed for Craiglockhart PS in the Edinburgh Primary Schools Cross Country at Duddingston on Monday 8 March.
The decision to stick a gantry onto the course about 150 metres after the start “Thanks to legacy funding” meant that a bottleneck was formed in the field of 150 p6 girls. At this point, Amy was tripped up, trampled on, and sent to the ground for a second time as she tried to get up. Despite losing a good 50 metres to the leaders, Amy did a great job in pulling herself back to 5th place by the end of the 1.6km course. Good learning experience?
