GRAEME RUNNER-UP ON PARKRUN DEBUT

Four club runners braved the elements to participate in this week’s[Jan 2nd] Edinburgh 5k parkrun, one of only a few events scheduled over the weekend to beat the weather.

The extreme conditions of late meant that the promenade was extremely icy in places and to prevent the cancellation of the event, the outing became a flat cross country affair. The grass perimeter of the course was used and specially salted footpaths were used to ensure the safe passage of runners too and from the loop between the 2km & 3km mark.

Running in hie first parkrun, Graeme Ackland[VM 45-49] came home in second place completing the altered course in 19 minutes 57 seconds.

David Mabon[VM[55-59] finished 15th overall in 22 minutes 14 seconds.

Lana Turnbull [JW 15-19] who was the overall winner of the Women’s race the previous week had to settle for the runner’s up spot on this ocassion, Lana finished 29th overall, second female, in a time of 24 minutes 51 seconds.

Mags Turnbull [VW 54-59] made up the quartet of club competitors and completed in 29 minutes 02 seconds for 56th place.

82 runners finished the course on this ocassion.
