NICOLA FIGHTS THEM OFF AT CERES

Lothian Running Club’s Nicola Kellock went to Ceres Games in Fife to compete in the Youth running events and came home a wrestling champion.
The organisers were one short for the Female 10st 7lb competition and asked Nicola if she would help out.
Having had no previous experience  Nicola was expected just to be making up the numbers, it turned out not to be the case as bout after bout she swept aside her opponents to take the title.
Her rewards for her efforts was a beautiful hand made piece of pottery in the shape of an oval plaque glazed and hand written reckoned to be worth around £300. And she gets this to keep.
Later in the afternoon and obviously inspired by her wrestling exploits Nicola bagged another prize by racing to victory in the Youth’s 200 metres Handicap breaking the tape in 24.55 seconds
Jill and Alice Horsburgh were also in action at Ceres, Jill finished 5th in both the Open 1600metres and 3000 metres handicaps, just missing out on a prize in both, Alice was also out of the prizes in the races she contested, the Youth’s 90m, 200m and 800m handicaps.
