BLACK ROCK ‘5’

BLACK ROCK ‘5’
Lothian Running Club had four runners in a huge starting line up of 697 for Friday nights Black Rock ‘5’ race in Kinghorn in Fife.
The race starts at the bottom of Harbour Road under the railway viaduct and climbs uphill, turning left onto Pettycur road before following the route to the beach. Down a small ramp and onto the sand, runners head out to the rock. Having made their way around the Black rock competitors retrace their steps back to the beach, up the hill and then down to the start line. However, the finish line is at the Ship Tavern – meaning a left turn and a final uphill dash to complete the race.
First of the club runners home was David Bathgate in 107th place in 31 minutes 25 seconds, he was followed over the line by 170th  Jim Alexander [33.25], 250th Jill Horsburgh [36.04] and 485th Mags Turnbull [42.27].
