Home Hill Trials

Lothian Running Club’s Matthew Galloway may well have run himself into the Scotland team for the Junior Home Hill International over the Wicklow Mountains in Glendalough in Ireland later this month.
Running in the weekend trials at Aberfoyle, Matthew, who is firstly an orienteer has only recently returned to action following a spell out with injury and illness produced a fine run to finish in 3rd place in the Under-19 race covering the 7km course with a climb of 375 metres in 34 minutes 00 seconds. Robbie Kennedy also of the Lothian club finished in 7th place in 40 minutes 31 seconds.
Samuel Galloway represented the club in the Under-16 trial where he finished in 4th place in a time of 23 minutes 50 seconds for the 4.9km course with an ascent of 275 metres.
Edel Mooney was the only female competitor in the Senior race which was run over the same course as the under-19s, despite having no other female opposition Edel had an excellent run and crossed the finish line in 39 minutes 20 seconds.
The Aberfoyle venue provides steep and challenging courses over forest roads and paths.
