Big LRC turnout at Round the Houses as Jo lands another medal

The recent fine vein of form of Lothian Running Club’s female members continued at the weekend with a bronze medal for Jo Williams in the East of Scotland 10k Championships in Grangemouth.
The championship which was incorporated into the 52nd running of the Jim Dingwall ‘Round the Houses 10k’ saw Williams turn in another fine performance to finish in third place behind Stephie Pennycook,Edinburgh Uni Hares & Hounds and Fiona Brian,Metro Aberdeen.
The Lothian runner who recently won silver medals in the Home Countries xc championship for Scotland and for LRC in the National 4 stage relays crossed the finish line in a new PB time of 35m 15s which also placed her 37th overall and second of 21 LRC members in the race.
Only Malcolm Lang who finished 31st and 3rd M40 finished ahead of her. Another PB came from the ever improving Ryan Kirkland who finished runner up in the under-17 category. At the other end of the age scale Scott Balfour was the first over-70 with Ian Leggett the leading over-75. The men’s race title went to Will Mackay,Aberdeen AC.
