Stirling/Highland Fling/Parkruns

Lothian female duo Shona Young and Gillian Godfrey had fine runs in the Stirling Marathon on Sunday, the pair completed the course together in 3 hours 30 minutes to place 18th and 19th with Shona also in 2nd place in the over-50 women’s category.

A trio of club male members took part in the Half Marathon results were,246 Calum Ross 99m 20s,677 William Francis 1h 50m 33s PB, 882 Jim Alexander 1h 54m 02s.

A handful of LRC members were among a field of almost 700 runners who completed the gruelling Highland Fling 53 miles Trail Race from Milngavie to Tyndrum. First of the five home with a new PB was Paul Young in 10 hours 12 minutes 28 seconds, he was followed over the finish line by Peter Harkness 12h 49m 20s,Alan Robertson 14h 00m 13s, Andrew Corrigan 14h 20m 03s and Linda Garratty 14h 21m 10s.

Jo Williams ran the second fastest parkrun by a female in the UK on Saturday as she led home the female finishers at Edinburgh in a new PB of 17m 16s. Mhairi Inglis was first female finisher in Australia for the second successive week this time in the Phillip Island parkrun where she finished in 21.27. Running for Livi AC ,Yvonne Crilley was leading lady at Livingston in 20.20. At the Whitstable parkrun LRC’s Mike Lieberman was the first over-60 finisher.
