Podium places for LRC trio

A trio of Lothian Running Club members picked up podium prizes at three different events at the weekend.

At the Paisley 10k, Jo Williams crossed the finish line in 37m 15s to place third in the Women’s race behind Fionnuala Ross, Shettleston 34.09 and Gemma Rankin,Kilbarchan 36.03.

The club were also represented in the Men’s race by a handful of members, results were, 37th Craig Pirie 36.16, 44th Alan Knowles 36.44, 89th Ryan Kirkland 39.27, 93rd Alan Cunningham 39.35, 269th Colin Wishart 45.03. The winner of the men’s race was Euan Gilham,Kilbarchan in 30.46.

Christine MacVarish had a good run in the Nairn Highland Games Half Marathon finishing second in the female category in 97 minutes 37 seconds. In the track and field events LRC’s Robyn McDonald was the overall junior champion while Louis McDonald finished 3rd in both the senior 400 metres and long jump.

Maxwell Laing was the Lothian club’s only representative in the Glasgow Frontrunners OUTrun 8k race covering the course within Kelvingrove Park in 31 minutes 40 seconds to place 16th overall and 2nd in the M50 category.
