Good club turn out at opening East Dist xc meeting
The 2018/19 season East District Cross Country League got underway at Stirling on Saturday. Lothian Running Club had a good turn out of runners in both the junior and senior races with many of the juniors making their XC debuts. In the under-11 girls 1.65k race Rosie Heeps, Megan Lang and Eilidh Turner finished 9th from 18 in the team event while in the Boys equivalent Jay McGarry and Harris Cameron finished 58th and 65th respectively. Jessica Heeps had a good run in the Girls under-13 2.4k race finishing in 20th place.
64 runners contested the Under17/Under-15 Girls 3.3k race in which Hannah Steel finished in 29th place. Ryan Kirkland excelled to a good 12th place finish in the under-17 Boys 6k race.
Jo Williams recent fine vein of form continued with an excellent 2nd place finish behind Morag Millar in the Senior Womens 6k event, Yvonne Crilley finished 40th with Andrea Cameron 72nd.
The Senior Men’s 9k race had the biggest field of the day with 240 runners toeing the start line. Heading the eight man LRC contingent was Malcolm Lang in 30th place, with the first six runners from each club counting towards team points he was followed over the finish line by Josh Dack,Euan McInnes,Barry McComish,Colin Partridge and Alan Cunningham. The Lothian team placed 11th out of 34 teams and in the Masters category 4th out of 21. The overall race
winner was Alistair Hay, Central AC.
