Shona reaches ‘magic ton’ in Hong Kong.

Congratulations go to Shona Young who has joined a unique band of athletes who have  contested 100 marathons.

The Lothian runner became a fully signed up member of the 100 Marathon Club following her participation in the Standard Charter Hong Kong Marathon on Sunday.

Shona shows off her commemorative 100 Marathon Club vest.

Her amazing achievement breaks down to 55 road, 7 trail and 38 ultra marathons. The total also shows Shona completed all 6 of the World Marathon Majors [some more than once] in Tokyo, Chicago , London, Berlin, New York City and Boston. At the latter in 2013 Shona was among the masses when terror struck the race with two explosions near to the finish killing 3 people and injuring many more. It failed to deter her and returned to contest the race again in 2017.

Her marathon PB also came in 2017 when she recorded a time of 3 hours 16 minutes 49 seconds when completing the Tokyo Marathon.

For the record, the Hong Kong Marathon saw Shona finish in 3 hours 32 minutes 35 seconds. Her finishing position was 1,245th, 58th female and 10th over-50. There was an astonishing 74,000 entrants.
