PARKRUN ROUND-UP

The weekend before Christmas is always a quieter one as far as athletics fixtures is concerned. Nothing however stops the Saturday morning 5k parkruns and Lothian Running Club made good use of them with 55 members participating at 14 different venues in Scotland and England.

Jo Williams made her debut in the Scunthorpe parkrun and was the leading female finisher in 18 minutes 53 seconds. Also south of the Border Mike Lieberman was the leading over-60 in the Whitstable parkrun with Mahlen Fox one of 401 runners in the Long Eaton parkrun.

Closer to home 30 LRC members were among the 254 runners who took part in the Livingston parkrun, they had 4 runners in the top 10 finishers with 3rd  Craig Pirie 17.53, 4th Alan Knowles 18.04 7th Ryan Kirkland 18.24 and 10th Lana Turnbull 19.08, the latter was the leading female finisher for an amazing 54th time at Livingston. The first two runners home this week were Livingston AC junior members Alistair Murray and Fraser Holman.

The club were also represented in the Grampian area where Julie Atkinson was 2nd female at Ury Riverside parkrun at Old Meldrum where Andrew Beattie also took part. Along the road at Aberdeen Samantha Paterson represented the Lothian club.
Al Aitken was 2nd finisher at Polkemmet Country parkrun with Jim Alexander 8th.
Down in the Borders at Peebles the Eades family of David, Lorna and Mairi ran the Hay Lodge parkrun.

Brian Lees and Claire Harris ran the Falkirk parkrun while there was lone runs for Elizabeth Rennie, Stephanie Amies, Cliff Dicker, John Jamieson and Ewart Scott at the parkruns at Strathclyde, Troon, Kirkcaldy, Queens and Oriam respectively.

Who knows where they will all be on the 25th??
