East District Cross Country League

The East District comprises around 45 clubs from Aberdeen down the east coast through the Central Belt down to the Borders.

The East District Cross Country league consists of three races over the course of the cross country season. The three  meetings, which vary location somewhat from year to year all follow a similar format.

Entry is on the day for all events, just turn up at the Lothian tent for your number, but if you can let us know in advance that you are running then this helps with organization.

This event is open to all club members aged 9 (born after 1/09/2008) and upwards. There are under 11’s, 13’s, 15’s and 17’s races for girls and boys.  The under 11’s race over approx. 1.5k, under 13’s over approx. 2.5k, under 15’s (and under 17 girls) over approx. 3.5k, under 17 boys and all junior/senior and vet women over approx. 6.4k and junior/senior/vet men over approx. 10k. All three races count towards Lothian’s own Club Cross Country Chanpionships

Race Start Times

Race start times are normally the same for all 3 league meets, but keep an eye out for last minute changes.

  • 12:00  – U11 Girls
  • 12:15 – U11 Boys
  • 12:30 – U13 Girls
  • 12:50  -U13 Boys
  • 13:05 –  U17 Men
    13:10 – Junior, Senior & Vet Women,
  • 13:45 – U15 Boys
    13:48 – U15 Girls & U17 Women
  • 14:15 – Senior, Junior, Vet Men

Note that the U17 Men, and Jun/Sen/Vet Women run at the same time, but the men start a few minutes earlier.  Similarly for the U15 Boys and U15/U17 Girls race

The league meetings are both team and individual events, with the club earning points for the position of each athlete in all races.

Last year the club ladies team finished second overall.  For the junior races the first three members make up each team.  The ladies team it is four members and the mens race it is six members.
