SILVER MEDALS FOR CLUB LADIES AT EAST RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Lothian Running Club’s Women’s ‘A’ team turned in a sterling performance to take the silver medals at the East District Cross Country Relay Championships at Meadowmill Sports Centre, Prestonpans on Saturday[9th Oct].

Mhairi Inglis led off the Lothian trio and covered the 3.4K course in 15 minutes 20 seconds to hand over to second leg runner Edel Mooney in 8th place.

A spirited run from Edel saw her reel in her rivals and claw back 29 and 31 seconds respectively on race leaders Lyndsay Morrison[Central AC] and Sarah Kelly[Dundee Hawkhill].

Edel’s time of 14.18 saw her hand over to anchor leg runner Sarah Inglis in 3rd place.
Sarah soon overhauled the final Central runner Catriona Buchanan, this left her with a 19 second deficit to make up on race leader Lily Patridge, Dundee Hawkhill.

The duo proceeded to run the fastest two legs of the day, and it was the Aldershot athlete of whom Sarah recently beat into second place in the Scottish 10k Championships who prevailed, and forged clear to win by 29 seconds in a total time for her team of 43.11 with the Lothian team runner up in 43.40 and Central AC who had lead after the opening two legs in 3rd in 44.15.

The club also fielded a ‘B’ team in the Women’s race and they finished in 19th place, Jocelyn Moar[16.13], Saran Jones[18.11] and Jill Horsburgh[18.41] total[ 53.05].
31 teams contested the race.

Three teams from the club went to post for the Mens race which saw 4 athletes each run 4K.
The ‘A’ team of Robert Inglis[13.07], Ross Milne[13.04], Scott Nelson[15.18] and Ian Donnan[11.51] finished in 9th place in [53.20].

The ‘B’line-up of Ally Robertson[14.15], Alan McIntosh[15.37], Graeme Ackland[15.47] and Harry Mulholland[16.10] came home in 33rd [61.19],
with the ‘C’squad,[Vets], Kenton Jones[15.07], Colin Banham[19.43], Kenny Mearns[18.09] and Mark Kassyk[22.52] in 51st [1:17.11].
Ian Leggett ran a solo non counting 4th leg.
54 teams took part.

The club were also represented in the Junior girls 2.5K event by Bethany Nelson[u/13]11.57, Lauren Arbuckle[u/15] 11.55 and Nicola Kellock[u/15]12.29.
Their overall time of 34.21 placed them 21st out of the 24 teams.
Alice Horsburgh ran a solo leg in 13.06, likewise Andrew Brady 12.17 in the Boys race.

The club also did well in the individual placings, Sarah Inglis ran the second fastest time of the day for a female with Edel Mooney fourth fastest.

Iain Donnan ran the fastest time by a male by a clear 20 seconds,Ross Milne was 28th and Robert Inglis 29th.

All in all it was a good day for the club.
