VICTORY FOR ”OBESE FATTIES” WHILE ”BULLET THE DOG” IS JUST BEAT!

The club’s ‘Bullet the Dog’ team of Craig McDowall Robert Inglis and Max McNeil were pipped into second place at Wednesday[28th July] evenings 3 x 1 Mile Relays at the Meadows in Edinburgh.

Craig completed the 1st leg in [4;43] to hand over to Robert in 4th place, a fine run of [4:40] from the second leg runner saw him pass on to anchor man Max McNeil in 1st place, despite a good leg from Max he couldn’t hold off the run from Scott Pilkington from the eventual winning Corstorphine No 1 team and had to settle for second beaten by 12 seconds.

The females however went one better in their race, Sarah and Mhairi Inglis along with Amanda Campbell made up the hardly appropriate ‘Extremely Obese Fatties Team’ the girls led the female race from gun to tape with Sarah running the first leg in [5:03] before handing over to Amanda who completed her lap in [5:14] before passing onto Mhairi who ran a [5:18] leg to bring the ‘Fatties’ home in a cumulative time of [15:24] for 7th overall and 1st female team.

The next club team back were ‘The Lothian Girlies’ of Lana Turnbull [5:44], Robyn McDowell [6:23] and Chloe Cox [5:55] who placed 22nd overall and 4th female team.

They were followed home by the ‘The Lothian Chick Flicks’ in 25th place and 5th female team, they were led off by Edel Mooney [5:27], followed by Lauren Arbuckle [5:48] and Bethany Nelson [6:37].

Making up a fine representation from the club were the ‘Lothian’ team of Scott Nelson [5:16], Scott Nelson jnr [8:08] and Alec Agnew [6;18] who finished in 32nd place out of a total of 45 teams.

In the individual fastest laps table Lothian females had 5 runners in the top 10,

2 Sarah Inglis [5:03].

3 Amanda Campbell [5:14].

4 Mhairi Inglis [5:18].

6 Edel Mooney [5:27].

9 Lana Turnbull [5.44].

Fastest womens leg was run by former Scottish 800 metres internationalist Joanna [Ross] Brown [4:56].

In the Men’s individual standings Robert Inglis was 6th fastest in [4:40.] Fastest mens leg was Murray Strain [4:29].
