WEST VAN 5K WIN FOR SARAH – CATEGORY MEDAL FOR MHAIRI

Lothian Running Club sisters Sarah and Mhairi Inglis enjoyed a successful day running in the West Van 5k event in West Vancouver, Canada at the weekend.
Sarah led home a huge field of 745 female competitors to take the Women’s title in a time of 16 minutes 56 seconds.
Sarah, who last St Patricks Day set a Canadian Soil record for the women’s 5k with a time of 15m 29s also finished 16th in the overall classification. She was recently selected to run for Great Britain & Ireland in the World Half Marathon Championship in Poland at the end of March. The event however has been postponed until October owing to the recent Coronavirus outbreak.

Mhairi, who is currently over in Canada for a short spell visiting her sister was also among the medals finishing 13th female overall and runner up in the 20-29 years age category in a time of 19m 54s which was just outside her PB for the 5k distance. It was a surprisingly good run from Mhairi who hasn’t really done much serious competitive running recently, although, during February she was the leading female for three successive weeks in the Livingston parkrun.
